Subashri Sankarasubramanian is an artist, art therapist and educator. She graduated with an honours degree from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, in 2016 and then, complimented her practice with a masters in art therapy from Western Sydney University, Australia.

A sculptor by training, she currently specialises in using food and food ingredients to explore consumption and societal ideas around how and what to consume. She creates food-based conceptual art that is focused on using the ephemerality of materials as a part of the art process. Subashri uses everyday materials to create sculptures and site specific installations that delve into food systems and how society experiences consumption.

She has exhibited her works across various countries including, The Netherlands, US, Australia, Singapore and India. Her work was also commissioned as a part of the SG Bicentennial, and is a permanent installation at the Natural History Museum at NUS.

In addition to her conceptual practice, she also offers watercolour paintings as one-off pieces and on a commissioned basis. This allows her to continue her painting practice, and also makes her art more accessible to people, which is a subject she is very passionate about.

Subashri is also a dedicated art therapist and uses her skills as an artist along with her therapeutic knowledge to support people with their mental health.
